Kicking off my Summer Reading Series with Sounds Like Me by Sara Bareilles! Her memoir is a great read... hilarious, fun, candid, very honest, and even heartbreaking at times. I was particularly struck by her stories about her writing experiences, some great and some not so great. Been there!! But I also totally identified with her process, the practice of writing as catharsis, and the need for solitude at times. The mental game, for humans in general but especially for artists, is often overlooked, so I was really glad to see her addressing the topic illustrated by letters to her younger self, for example. Highly recommend!
